The most famous and tenacious of the early American warships, "Old Ironsides" earned her nickname during an intense naval skirmish in 1812 when a barrage of British cannon balls bounced off her oak sides. Laumched in 1797 at Boston Harbor (where she can still be seen today), this historic frigate is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat.
